Back in the early days of development we were lucky enough to find an organisation that wanted to share the journey towards hybrid event excellence in The Economist. Working in partnership with Marketing Director Jonathan Dewe and his team, we have been able to create what has been described as a Revolution in Events.
Jonathan has already explained how the Thought Leadership and Events Division of The Economist sought to offer a premium experience for delegates, with technology having an increasingly important part of this throughout the customer’s journey in an interview on the Events Guru blog entitled Pulling off a Hybrid Event. Their Global Energy Conversation event not only won industry awards but has placed The Economist at the head of the curve in terms of innovation within the conference industry.
Not only are they creating high levels of audience engagement but they are also using the agility of the technology to start conversations that drive agendas and continue long after the formal presentations have been delivered.
Added value content, networking and time-stamping; meetings between groups of people of similar interest; second-screen capabilities and in-line advertising are just some of the options that have enabled The Economist to develop their live conference business so that they are able to cross global geographical boundaries to enable unique networking and knowledge-sharing experiences among groups of senior industry professionals. Events such as the Global Energy Conversation where 1000 participants from 99 countries participated for an average of 60 minutes are possible entirely because of the co-development arrangement between The Economist and Wavecast® Pro
The Economist now has a portfolio of successful hybridWavecast® events with which they can illustrate to existing and potential audiences and commercial partners the benefits of participating in a Wavecast®,something they are doing to good effect with their Immerse yourself in a world of new ideas – A virtual experience for curious minds promotion.
